What format is the eBook?
The eBook is available in a PDF format.
Can I download the eBook onto my eReader?
Yes! Most eReaders (Kobo, Kindle, Nook) accept PDF documents. Keep in mind that they might not display correctly, or exactly as they would in the original PDF document.
How do I download the eBook?
As soon as you purchase the eBook, you will receive an email with the subject line “Your Exploring Alternatives order receipt.” When you open that window, you’ll see a receipt for your order, as well as a link to download the eBook. It’s a very small link so we’ve included a screenshot to show you where to find it in the receipt:
How do I use a discount code?
If you’ve received a discount code for our Guide to Van Life, you can apply it during the checkout process when you’re on the “Basket” page. Here’s a screenshot to show you where to add your discount code:
Where do I find the eBook once I’ve downloaded it?
Most computers will save file downloads to a folder called “Downloads” or “My Downloads” (unless you’ve set up your computer to save files elsewhere). Once you find the file, you can leave it in the downloads folder, or you can save it somewhere else by opening it, clicking “File” and then saving it in a new location on your computer.
The links in the eBook aren’t working for me.
We’re sorry to hear that the links aren’t working! If a website doesn’t load the first time, try refreshing the page a couple of times. There are a couple of other things you can do to try and get the links working. First, check to see if your computer is connected to the Internet. You can open and read the eBook when you are offline, but you’ll need to be online and connected to the Internet for the links to open. You can also try to copy and paste the links directly into your web browser’s address bar (instead of clicking on them).

What format is the video course?
The video course is a series of 17 videos that have been uploaded to YouTube. Once you purchase the video course, you’ll receive a link to a PDF document that you can download. This document contains links to all of the videos in the course.
How do I watch the video course?
To watch a video from the course, you will need to download and open the PDF document that is sent by email when you purchase the course. In the PDF document, there is a list of Video Course Links that allows you to click on the link for the video you’d like to watch. Once you click the link, the video will play from YouTube in your web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Explorer).
The videos aren’t playing when I click the video links.
We’re sorry to hear that the links aren’t working! If a video doesn’t load the first time, try refreshing the page. If that doesn’t work, there are a couple of other things you can do to try and get the links working. First, check to see if your computer is connected to the Internet. You can open and read the Video Course PDF document when you are offline, but you’ll need to be online and connected to the Internet to watch the videos. You can also try to copy and paste the video links directly into your web browser’s address bar (instead of clicking on them). Last but not least, try using a different web browser (for example, if the videos aren’t working in Google Chrome, try Safari or Firefox).

What payment options does your online shop accept?
Our online shop uses PayPal to process payments. You can pay with PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
I don’t have a PayPal account. Can I still purchase an eBook or a video course?
Yes, you can purchase an eBook or a video course even if you don’t have a PayPal account. When you’re on the Checkout page, you’ll see a purple button that says “Proceed to PayPal.” When you click on this button you’ll be taken to the PayPal site where you can “Choose a Way to Pay.” You can pay with your PayPal account, or you can select the option lower down on the page that says “Don’t have a PayPal account?” which will allow you to pay with a credit card.
What currency does your online store use?
All prices listed on the Exploring Alternatives online shop are in CAD (Canadian) dollars as of November 1, 2016.
Do you charge sales tax?
Yes. As of November 1, 2016 we are required to collect sales tax on orders placed within Canada. We calculate the sales tax based on the province or the territory where the order is being placed. For example, if you are placing an order in Newfoundland, we will add 15% HST to your order. If you are placing an order in Manitoba, we will add 5% GST to your order.

Is the content in the eBook/Video Course specific to the US?
Many of the tips and pieces of advice we share in our eBook and Video Course will be helpful to anyone interested in van life but most of the resources and links we share are specific to Canada and the US.
